The Tecno Pop 9 is a super affordable phone that follows the success of the brand’s Spark Go 1. While it’s already available in Africa with a Unisoc T615 chip, the version launching in India features a different processor and will soon be available in other regions as well.
The Pop 9 offers great value for its price, which is why it’s getting so much attention. It comes with a large 6.67-inch IPS screen with a dynamic punch-hole design that houses an 8 MP selfie camera. The screen has a resolution of 720 x 1612 pixels.
In some regions, the Pop 9 features a 120Hz refresh rate display, but the version launching in India has a 90Hz panel, possibly due to the lower-powered Helio G50 chipset. Despite this, the design and camera setup remain the same across all versions. The camera area is inspired by the iPhone, with two lenses arranged diagonally in a squircle shape. One lens is a 13MP main camera, while the other is decorative.
The Tecno Pop 9 is powered by the Helio G50 chip, which replaces the older Helio G36. It includes a PowerVR GPU, a 2.2GHz clock speed, and 3GB of RAM, which can be expanded by another 3GB virtually. The phone also has a large 5000mAh battery, an IR remote, and an IP54 water and dust resistance rating. The Pop 9 4G model is priced at around $80 (about PKR 22,000) for the 3GB RAM and 64GB storage version, offering impressive features at a budget price.
