Xiaomi is getting ready to release its affordable Redmi A5 phone soon. The phone is already being tested and has been approved by the FCC, which means it will be available in the US. Before this approval, the Redmi A5 NFC version was listed in the IMEI database, so we know it will launch in many regions.
The model number 25028RN03L was approved by the FCC recently. While the details in the documents were limited, we now know the Redmi A5 is a 5G phone. As a budget device, it comes with dual-band WiFi 5 and regular Bluetooth.
The Redmi A5 will run Android 15 and come with Hyper OS 2.0 as its user interface. The phone will have different storage options: 3/64 GB, 4/64 GB, 4/128 GB, and 6/128 GB.
It seems that in some regions, the Redmi A5 might be sold as the Poco C71. This isn’t surprising because Xiaomi often rebrands its phones for different markets. The model numbers for the two phones are similar, which supports this idea.
The Poco C71 Global version has the model number 25028PC03G, and the Latin version is 25028PC03L. The global version of the Redmi A5 is 25028RN03G, and the US version is 25028RN03L. While the model number extensions ("PC" and "RN") are different, the other numbers match. This means that the specifications for the Redmi A5 will likely be the same as those for the Poco C71. The exact release dates for both phones are not yet known, but Xiaomi will confirm them soon.
