Vivo has officially launched the Vivo Y29s 5G, featuring a design similar to the Vivo Y04 and a 5G-capable processor. The phone also shares its display with another budget Vivo phone that was released just two weeks ago. However, Vivo has made some key upgrades to the software and internal hardware.
Display & Design
The Vivo Y29s comes with a 6.5-inch HD+ (720p) IPS screen that supports a 90Hz refresh rate. It offers 570 nits of brightness, which is decent for indoor use but may not be very clear under direct sunlight. The screen has thin bezels, except for a slightly thicker bottom chin, and a small notch at the top for the front camera.
Vivo aims to provide a durable and affordable 5G phone, and for that, they’ve used MediaTek’s Dimensity 6300 processor, which has already been seen in other Vivo models like the Vivo Y29 5G.
Performance & Software
The phone runs on Funtouch OS 15, which is based on Android 15. It is powered by an 8-core Dimensity 6300 processor (2.4GHz), ensuring smooth performance. The Vivo Y29s offers good value for money, delivering solid performance in its price range.
Durability & Battery Life
Vivo has built the Y29s with a strong IP64-rated body, making it dustproof and water-resistant. It also comes with SGS-certified military-grade shockproofing, ensuring better durability.
The device packs a large 5500mAh battery, which can easily last over a day. However, the 15W charging speed might feel slow for some users.
Camera & Storage
On the back, the Vivo Y29s features a 50MP main camera with an LED flash but lacks an Aura light. It also has a 0.08MP secondary lens for additional features. The front camera is only 5MP, which might not be ideal for selfie lovers.
Vivo has included an AI Eraser tool to enhance photo editing, and the phone comes with a huge 256GB storage capacity, allowing you to store all your pictures and videos without worry.
Colors & Availability
The Vivo Y29s is available in Titanium Gold and Jade Green with a single 8GB RAM + 256GB storage variant. The phone has been launched globally, but pricing and availability for specific markets are yet to be confirmed. Stay tuned for more updates!
